Chatham-Kent Police are warning citizens not to send money to strangers after a resident wired more than $70,000 to a person they met online.
Police said Friday a citizen told police they were a victim of a scam. The victim said for the past two months they had wired thousands of dollars to a bank account in England.
The victim said the money was for a person they had met through an online social dating network.
Police are asking citizens to contact police immediately if they suspect that they have been defrauded.
